
The Padma awards are set to be announced by President of India Droupadi Murmu on Saturday (January 25, 2025), a day ahead of the Indian Republic Day. The Padma awards, among the country’s highest civilian honours, are conferred in three categories – Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri.
The awards are given in various disciplines, such as art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service etc. The awards are announced on the eve of the Republic Day by the President of India.

Padma Vibhushan, the highest honour among the Padma awards, is conferred for exceptional and distinguished service, Padma Bhushan for distinguished service of high order, and Padma Shri for distinguished service in any field.
Former Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, actors Chiranjeevi and Vyjayanthimala Bali, Bharatanatyam dancer Padma Subrahmanyam and the first woman judge of the Supreme Court late M. Fathima Beevi were some of the eminent personalities to receive the Padma awards of 2024.
