
Production of meat has increased by more than 100% in Telangana from 2014-15 to 2023-24. While Prawns production increased by 98%, fish production shot up by nearly 70%, eggs by 73%, milk production increased by 36% in the ten years
The quantity of meat produced in Telangana was 5.05 lakh tonnes in 2014-15, which increased to 10.97 lakh in 2023-24. Prawns production was 8352 tonnes, which increased to 16,532 tonnes. Fish production increased from 2.60 lakh tonnes to 4.39 lakh tonnes in the ten years, according to Telangana State Statistical Abstract (Atlas)-2024 report released a few days ago. Eggs production increased from 1.06 lakh to 1.83 lakh.
In 2023-24, the highest quantity of meat production across the State was recorded in Rangareddy followed by Sangareddy and Siddipet. Rangareddy followed by Siddipet led in eggs production too, followed by Medchal-Malkajgiri.
Nalgonda with 31,137 tonnes was in the lead in fish production, followed by Nirmal (24266.2 tonnes) and Nizamabad (23521 tonnes). Nalgonda led the Prawn production too with 1482 tonnes, 1283 tonnes in Nizamabad and 1094 tonnes in Nirmal.
