
MLA for Srirangapatna Ramesh Bandisidde Gowda on Thursday said a large number of devotees are expected to attend the Maga Masa Hunnime programme at Sri Nimishamba Temple at Ganjam in Srirangapatna taluk on February 11 and 12.
As many as one lakh devotees are expected to attend the festivities, and the district administration has been told to make arrangements for the same, the MLA said.
At a meeting in Mandya, the MLA instructed the district administration to make arrangements at the Cauvery River for the holy dip of the devotees on both days.
He said that adequate safety measures must be taken to prevent any inconvenience to devotees. Police personnel should be deployed for the bandobust too.
While asking the district administration to construct temporary sheds, he said the Fire Department personnel and expert swimmers will be deployed, and life jackets will be made available. Cultural programmes will be held from 10 pm on February 11 to 8 am on February 12.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Kumara said special buses will ply from Srirangapatna to Ganjam to ferry devotees. Adequate parking arrangements will also be made. CCTV cameras will be installed, and ‘prasad’ will be distributed to devotees.
