Singer Olivia Rodrigo entertained the audience with touching renditions of her breakout tracks Driver’s License and Deja Vu, closing out the at the FireAid event in an unforgettable fashion. As she stepped onto the stage, the energy in the room shifted, with Rodrigo warmly addressing the crowd. “Thank you guys so much for having me,” she said. “Thank you so much for being here. It has been heartbreaking to witness all this devastation in this incredible city. I love L.A. I have lived in L.A. my whole life. I find this place so beautiful and so inspiring. I have written so many songs about living here, like this one,” the singer added.
Rodrigo’s performance during the FireAid concert was a reminder of how far she’s come. According to Rolling Stone, in 2024, she spent much of her time on the road, completing her globe-spanning Guts World Tour. The tour, in support of her highly anticipated sophomore album Guts, became a monumental success. Over 1.4 million fans packed the venues, contributing to an impressive $186.6 million (approx. Rs 1611 crores) in earnings, making it the highest-grossing tour by an artist born this century. While her tour may have concluded, she’s not quite done yet—this spring and summer, Rodrigo will wrap up a few final performances in South America and England.
In a special touch, Rodrigo also shared the experience of filming her Guts World Tour concert film, which premiered on Netflix in October. Shot around her hometown performances in Los Angeles, it captured the raw emotion of an artist connecting with the city that raised her.
“I get really nervous for the LA and New York shows because all my friends are there, and so having it be filmed was also just another element of nerve-wracking. But it was really special to film that in my hometown. I think I wouldn’t have it any other way. I have such a connection to LA, and LA has served as so much inspiration for me over the years. It felt serendipitous,” she said in an interview with Rolling Stone.
The FireAid event itself, hosted across the Kia Forum and Intuit Dome arenas in Inglewood, was a star-studded event, with performances from the likes of Lady Gaga, No Doubt, John Mayer and other A-listers. Broadcast worldwide across a variety of platforms, from AMC Theatres to YouTube, the concert brought together music lovers from all corners of the globe, joining in solidarity for relief during the devastating LA wildfires.
