The DMK and its allies will hold a demonstration in front of the Chennai Collectorate on February 18 to oppose Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s assertion that [Samagra Shiksha] funds would not be released to Tamil Nadu until it accepted the National Education Policy (NEP) as well as the ‘failure’ of Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to allocate adequate funds to the State.
A joint statement issued by the leaders of the DMK-led alliance alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could not stomach the individuality of Tamils and the strides made by Tamil Nadu in education, employment, social justice, and standard of life.
“The BJP is filled with hatred for Tamils as they are not allowing any political toehold for it in Tamil Nadu. It seeks to defeat the State which is at the forefront against the divisive forces,” the leaders said.
They said the BJP government was making use of Governor R.N. Ravi and creating troubles and violations though his tenure was over. “They seek to destroy the infrastructure in education through the UGC and impose a three-language policy,” they alleged.
