Teams of officials of the National Investigating Agency (NIA) conducted simultaneous searches at Thirumullaivasal village in Mayiladuthurai district on Tuesday (January 28, 2025).
Split into multiple teams, the NIA officials conducted checks at 15 houses in the village from around 6 a.m.
Sources in the Police Department said the searches were carried out in the wake of the arrest of a person named Al Pasith in Chennai, who has been accused of “brainwashing youth” via social media platforms into joining the ISIS, a banned terrorist organisation.
The Mayiladuthurai district police escorted the NIA teams during their operation, the police sources added.
