New Era Of Development In Assam: Governor Acharya

Guwahati, Jan 27: Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya on Sunday hailed the state’s progress in infrastructure development, social welfare, and peace-building, calling it a “new era of development.” Addressing a Republic Day gathering in Guwahati, Acharya credited the state government for its focus on improving law and order, combating social issues such as drug abuse, child marriage, and human trafficking, and promoting environmental conservation.

He highlighted the significant strides made in maintaining peace, with several militant groups having surrendered and signed peace accords, contributing to greater security in the state. Acharya also emphasized the government’s zero-tolerance policy on drug abuse, reporting numerous arrests and seizures of illegal substances.

The governor stressed that the government’s commitment to inclusive growth has been central to its agenda, with development reaching marginalized communities and a focus on empowering women. He outlined ongoing welfare initiatives across various sectors, including education, agriculture, infrastructure, and social security.

Looking ahead, Acharya mentioned the upcoming ‘Advantage Assam 2.0 Investment and Infrastructure Summit’ in February, which will help further accelerate the state’s economic growth by attracting industry leaders from across South Asia.
