Nellore MP Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy on Friday raised a question in the Lok Sabha on the status of project to establish 2,500 anganwadi centres in Andhra Pradesh under the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan (PM-JANMAN) scheme.
He also sought about the status of the anganwadi centres, district-wise in the State, and reasons for the cost escalation as well as delay in the execution of the project.
In a written reply, Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur explained that 2,500 anganwadi centres had been sanctioned for the financial years 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 at a cost of ₹12 lakh each. Citing the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, she said that there was no delay, nor any cost escalation in the project.
