Veteran star Neena Gupta became a grandmother last year after her daughter Masaba Gupta gave birth to a baby girl. The actress shares an adorable bond with her granddaughter Matara as she recently revealed during an interaction with a media portal. Calling her relationship with Matara extremely special and modern, Neena said that she doesn’t like to feel like a grandmother and has instructed her granddaughter to address her as Neena instead of naani.
In an interview with ANI, Neena Gupta explained that she does not approve of the typical grandmother role. The actress said, “I don’t feel like a grandmother. In fact, I have told the little one not to call me naani but, call me Neena.” Further, she mentioned her preference to be called by her first name instead of the traditional norm as it would make her feel old.
Neena Gupta enjoys not following the typical approach of being stuck in certain roles assigned to grandparents, as she mentioned during the interaction. Masaba Gupta and Satyadeep Misra exchanged vows in an intimate ceremony on January 27, 2023. A year later, in April 2024, they announced the delightful news of their baby girl’s arrival through an Instagram post. They posted a picture of a white lotus and a moon set against a blue backdrop. The text overlay reads, “Our very special little girl arrived on a very special day. 11.10.2024. Masaba & Satyadeep.”
Beyond her role as a mother and a grandmother, Neena Gupta is also known for leaving a remarkable mark with her undeniable acting skills. She is now gearing up for her next film titled Hindi Vindi wherein she plays the role of a grandmother. Talking about her character, she said, “In the film, I am also playing a very smart grandmother who is a music teacher in India.”
She continued, “On speaking about the film, she said, “It is a movie which basically revolves around a grandmother and a grandson, who is played by Mihir (Ahuja), who is also a musician. It’s a very emotional kind of a story and a very real story which people will connect with, and it has a major part in the movies, the music, and that’s why we have Guy (Sebastian) who is playing his father. So it has a lot of beautiful music, it has a lot of emotions, and it is very real.”
Hindi Vindi also stars The Archies fame Mihir Ahuja and Australian singer Guy Sebastian.
