Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has urged every citizen to actively participate in the Swachh Andhra Mission, emphasising that cleanliness should be a collective responsibility rather than an initiative limited to individuals or institutions.
Reviewing the progress of the Swachh Andhra programme, the Chief Minister stressed the need for structured planning and implementation to achieve the State’s cleanliness and environmental goals.
The State government has designated the third Saturday of every month for the Swarna Andhra – Swachh Andhra campaign, with each month focusing on a specific theme. This month’s theme, Source & Resource, highlights the importance of utilising resources efficiently for sustainable development.
Mr. Naidu directed officials to work toward improving living standards, boosting tourism, attracting investments, and achieving sustainable development goals. He also emphasised the need for a cleaner environment to support Andhra Pradesh’s Net Zero initiatives. The Chief Minister instructed the Pollution Control Board to monitor air quality and take preventive measures in affected areas.
‘’Swachh Andhra is not limited to homes but extends to public spaces, including schools, government offices, places of worship, and industrial areas,’‘ he said, and called for active involvement from all sections of society, including students, government employees, and community leaders, to drive this initiative forward.
Government offices, in particular, must set an example by maintaining cleanliness and ensuring a pleasant working environment, he stated. Simply raising slogans about cleanliness and greenery was not sufficient, he said, urging citizens to take responsibility and actively contribute to a cleaner Andhra Pradesh.
