Stand-up comedian Samay Raina has been at the centre of a major controversy owing to his show India’s Got Latent over the past week. Amid the row, many celebrities and friends of Samay backed him and showed their support for him. Comedian and actor Munawar Faruqui has now shared a reel on Instagram, sharing a few lines on ‘Chadta suraj’ (rising sun), in which he mentioned that people are jealous of those on top. While he didn’t specifically mention Samay Raina’s name, his followers were convinced that the reel is a show of support for his fellow comedian.
Munawar Faruqui’s reel shows him talking to the camera in Hindi, saying, “Kitna achha lagta hai na doston, early morning sun. Sunset kitna achha lagta hai. kyunki suraj wo dono haalo mein na, thoda neeche hota hai. 12 baje jab suraj ekdum top pe chadta hai na, kisiko achha nahi lagta. (It feels so good, right, friends, the early morning sun. The sunset feels so nice too. Because the sun, in both those moments, is a little lower. At 12 o’clock, when the sun is right at the top, no one likes it),” he said.
He further added, “Doobta hua suraj achha lagta hai ya shuru hone wala suraj achha lagta hai. But suraj jab ek dum top pe pohoch jaata hai na ek dum shiddat pe, tab sabko jalan hone lagti hai. (People like the setting sun or the rising sun. But when the sun reaches at the top, at its zenith, that’s when everyone gets jealous).”

Even though Munawar nowhere mentioned Samay Raina or the India’s Got Latent controversy, fans followers interpreted the video as a show of support for his friend and fellow comedian Samay Raina. One netizen commented, “Samay samay ki baatein hai (Iykyk),” while another one wrote, “Bro is supporting his brother indirectly.” Another one commented, “For Samay Raina,” while a fourth netizen wrote, “When you realize that he is not talking only about himself.”
A few days ago, Munawar had expressed his support for Samay Raina on social media. He shared an Instagram story that read, “Samay (with a kissing emoji) Art joh hai woh spring ki hai. Jitnaa dabage utnaa uper uthega. My G is going to come out so strong you will see.”
About India’s Got latent Controversy
It all began when YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, appeared on Samay Raina’s India Today Latent and made a controversial joke on ‘parental sex’ that went viral. The influencer was seen asking a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever.”
Post the incident, a police complaint was lodged against Ranveer, Samay and other co-judges present on the episode, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija. While Ranveer Allahbadia apologized for his controversial remarks on social media, Samay Raina has deleted India’s Got Latent episodes from YouTube.
