Minister for Urban Development and Town Planning Byrathi Suresh on Friday said there is no question of sparing the wrongdoers in the alleged irregularities in the allotment of sites under the 50:50 scheme and added that the government will act against those who got such sites illegally from the MUDA.

At the same time, the concerns of the genuine land losers and the lands of those who had been used for layout formations by the MUDA without their knowledge will be addressed. In genuine cases, sites have to be allotted under the scheme to the land losers, he said.

Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Byrathi Suresh welcomed the Lokayukta Police giving a clean chit to the CM, his wife, and two others in the case of alleged irregularities in the allotment of 14 compensatory sites by the MUDA.

The police gave a ‘B report’ since they found no case in the allegations. The BJP and the JD-S cannot influence the probe, he said.

The Minister said that let the ED also probe the case. “Neither me nor the CM’s wife are worried about the ED probe,” he said.

If any officers were found to be involved in the alleged irregularities, the government would not spare them. Let the Judicial Commission, headed by Justice P.N. Desai, set up by the government to look into the alleged irregularities in the allotment of sites by the MUDA, submit its report for the government to act, said the Minister.

Backing the 50:50 scheme for land development, the Minister said the sites under the scheme had been allotted during the BJP’s tenure. Moreover, there is a government order for allotment under a 50:50 scheme outside Bengaluru and a 60:40 ratio in Bengaluru city. If there is any illegality, the government will look into it without any doubt, he added.

He refuted claims made by the BJP on the “missing” files in the MUDA and said he does not want to respond to such wild allegations. “How could anyone take away files from the MUDA? Are they kadle puri (spicy puffed rice) to take away, when there are cameras around?” he asked.
