A man allegedly sexually assaulted a minor girl in a village in Belur taluk on Tuesday. The victim’s parents lodged a complaint with Halebidu police on Wednesday.
According to the parents, the incident happened when the girl was alone at home. They went to meet a relative. On return, they saw the accused running out of the house. When they inquired about their daughter, they came to know that she had been sexually assaulted.
The parents took her to the district hospital. The police registered the case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012, and section 64 of the BNS. The police have launched a probe.
