A 15-year-old girl was found dead in her apartment complex in Kadugodi on Wednesday after being reprimanded by her mother to focus on studies.
The deceased was identified as Avantika Chaurasia, a class 10 student at a prominent CBSE school in Whitefield. The incident in Assetz Marq apartment in Kadugodi was reported to the police around 11.30 a.m. The family is from Madhya Pradesh and she is the only daughter. Her father is a software engineer and her mother is a homemaker
An investigation revealed that Avantika’s class 10 board exams were to begin on February 15. Her mother allegedly found her using her phone and reprimanded her, asking her to focus on studies and limit her mobile phone usage.
Miffed over this, she locked the room from inside and ended her life, said the police. Security guards found the girl dead on the ground floor and sounded an alert before informing the police .
The jurisdictional Kadugodi police shifted the body for post-mortem after conducting spot inspection.
A case of unnatural death has been registered and further investigation is on, Shivakumar Gunare, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield), said.
