Millie Bobby Brown has never been one to shy away from clapping back at unnecessary criticism, and this time was no different. The 21-year-old British actress, who has been in the news for her new movie The Electric State, recently debuted a brand new look. She ditched her usual brunette locks for a radiant blonde makeover, and she absolutely nailed the transformation. However, as always, the internet had something to say. A section claimed that her new hair made her look “older than her age.”
Not the one to just sit and listen to the criticism, Millie took to her Instagram Stories on February 27, where she shared a screenshot of a British Vogue article with the headline, “No One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looks.” Beneath the screenshot, the Stranger Things star simply wrote, “Thank You.” Her short yet sharp response conveyed that she was not here for the unsolicited opinions.
The actress’ response came after an intense wave of criticism which she faced following her appearance at the Los Angeles premiere of her new Netflix film, The Electric State, on February 24. For the event, Millie stepped out in style in a metallic gown from Annie’s Ibiza. Her dress featured a structured corset bodice and a dramatic train. The 21-year-old completed her look with a stylish updo. While many fans and fashion lovers absolutely loved her red carpet look, some online critics had a different take.
One user said, “What a mania she has for wanting to look older.”
Another quipped, “Millie, you’re 21 years old. But you look a little older, like 30. Don’t you think so? But I love you so much. I’ve watched all your movies.”
“You look fabulous, but seriously fire your stylist. It’s giving 40-something divorcee cougar,” read a comment. Whereas someone else wrote, “How did you go from 13 to 45 years old in just 9 years?”
This was not the first time that Millie hit back at people who trolled her for her age. Just before the beginning of 2025, the 21-year-old had put up a series of mirror selfies on her Instagram account. In the photos, she was wearing a pretty floral-printed dress and carrying a mini Louis Vuitton bag. Soon after the post, the internet reacted to it by saying that the actress had undergone the knife, while some just casually pointed out that she looked older.
Back then, she had hit back at the trollers, saying, “Women grow!! Not sorry about it :)”
