
As the temperature keeps rising in many parts of the district, Collector N. Devidas has issued instructions to take necessary measures for preventing possible disasters during the summer season.
Speaking at a meeting of the District Disaster Management Authority here on Wednesday, he said that caution should be maintained to avoid sunstroke and summer diseases.
“Children should be strictly prevented from standing in the sun during school assemblies and participating in processions in the sun. Elephants paraded in festivals must have fitness certificates and prior permission for the parade,” he said.
Instructions were also given to take strict action to prevent firework accidents and to install barricades if necessary to control uncontrolled crowds in festival venues.
In the context of the uncontrolled increase in heat and the spread of wildfires in some areas, measures will be taken to control wildfires.
The meeting also discussed guidelines for various departments and the public anticipating a heatwave situation and measures to address water scarcity. Awareness campaigns will be organised with the help of local bodies to prevent fires in public places.
A senior officials directed that incidents that threaten the lives of people and the environment should be reported promptly and strictly to the District Emergency Operation Centre.
Subcollector Nishant Sinhara, ADM G Nirmal Kumar, District Hazard Analyst Prem G Prakash and other department heads participated in the meeting.
