Imtiaz Ali and Manoj Bajpayee react to India’s Got Latent controversy.
YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments on comedian Samay Raina’s show ‘India’s Got Latent’ have landed him in the midst of a row. Bollywood actor Manoj Bajpayee and filmmaker Imtiaz Ali were recently spotted in the city, and they were asked about the controversy over the YouTuber’s remarks. Imtiaz Ali said that mistakes made by immature people should not be taken very seriously. Manoj Bajpayee said that success comes vey quickly these days, and urged youngsters to be mindful about what they say.
In a video shared by Instant Bollywood, Imtiaz Ali said, “Short way mein jo fame aata hai, who short way mein chala bhi jaata hai. Aur jisko jis cheez mein mazaa aata hai, wohi karna chahiye. Ashleelta aisa subject hai…obviously, wo bura hai ye to koi bhi kahega. But log immature hote hain so zyada seriously unki galtiyon ko lena bhi nahi chahiye. (The fame that comes quickly also fades quickly. And whatever brings someone joy, they should pursue that. Obscenity is a subject… obviously, it’s bad, anyone would say that. But people are immature, so we shouldn’t take their mistakes too seriously.” Manoj Bajpayee added to that and said, “Aaj kal safalta bohot jaldi milti hai. Mazaa is baat mein hai ki hum safalta ko zyada der tak apne paas kheenchke rakhe taaki baad mein hum uska mazaa le paaye. (These days, success comes very quickly. The real pleasure lies in holding on to success for a long time so that later you can enjoy it).”
Manoj Bajpayee further added, “Isliye jo bhi log safal ho rahe hain, young hain, yuva hain, humesha mahaul ko zara dekhein, samjhein, bohot zaruri hota hai. Isliye main kehta hu newspaper padho yaar. (So, for all those who are becoming successful and are young, always observe and understand the environment; it’s very important. That’s why I say, read the newspaper).”
Imtiaz Ali further added that there’s another kind of joy that comes with long-lasting fame. “Fir aap ek bade high ke baad humesha ke liye low mein nahi jaate ho. So ek mehnat aur parishram se kamaya hua success hai na, uske peechhe padna chahiye. (After a big high, you don’t always fall into a low. So, success that is earned through hard work and effort, that’s what you should strive for),” he advised.
This comes a day after a police complaint was filed against Samay Raina and several co-judges, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia. The FIR accuses them of promoting obscene and sexually explicit content on the show, invoking multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
The controversy erupted after Allahabadia’s remarks on the show went viral. He allegedly asked a contestant an inappropriate question involving body parts and proposed an indecent act in exchange for Rs 2 crore. The outrage peaked when he posed a controversial question: “Would you watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join once to stop it forever?” Ranveer Allahabadia later apologized for his remarks.
