Earlier today, Chhaava director Laxman Uttekar met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray and assured that all objectionable scenes from the Vicky Kaushal starrer will be removed.
Chhaava is a historical drama that revolves around the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has urged the makers of Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming movie Chhaava to maintain a balance between sensitivity and creativity while working on projects like this. Recently, Fadnavis reacted to the controversies regarding the film when he also asked the producers not to distort history.
“Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s history should be shown correctly, it is not right to distort history. Everyone has a lot of love and respect for Sambhaji Maharaj. This respect and honour should not be hurt. There should be creativity (in filmmaking) but we believe that there should be sensitivity along with it,” the Maharashtra Chief Minister said as quoted by India TV.
This comes a day after Maharashtra minister Uday Samant expressed disappointment with Vicky Kaushal’s upcoming movie. He raised objections to a scene where Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj is shown dancing and said that it should be removed.
“If they raise objections, we will not let it be released,” Samant said while speaking to the media and then threatened the block the film’s release. “The movie shows Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj dancing. The director should cut this part. This movie should be shown to historians and scholars. If they raise objections, we will not let it be released,” he added.
Later, the film’s director Laxman Uttekar met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena leader Raj Thackeray and assured him that all objectionable scenes from the Vicky Kaushal starrer will be removed before its release.
