It was around 2130 hrs, an hour left for the shift to get over when a strange numbness crept over the right side of my face. Work had been hectic as always at the media house, leaving no time for breaks. Dismissing the sensation of fatigue, I headed to the restroom. The reflection in the mirror staring back at me was alarming: my right eyebrow wouldn’t lift, and my eye refused to close. Stroke was the first word that came to mind, a fear later shared by a neurosurgeon. But this was the star of a long journey to the correct diagnosis -atypical Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS).
