Chhaava, the Vicky Kaushal-led period action drama film, is currently eying for a grand release on February 14. Helmed by Laxman Utekar, Vicky will be seen portraying the role of the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, known for his bravery and strength. Ahead of its premiere, the director, during a recent interview, talked about the actor’s aura on the sets of the film and said that “it felt like a lion was coming.”

Talking to Pinkvilla, Laxman said, “There were 1500 people on our sets. Even when there was some chaos, as Raaze (Vicky) got out of his vanity, it felt like a lion was coming. When we saw him in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s outfit, holding that sword, everyone stood to attention. No one had the courage to say anything to him since he was Raaze to us and still is. When he got out of his vanity, the entire team would go quiet. That is his aura.”

Backed by Maddock Films, the film also features Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, wife of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.

Vicky, on the other hand, also praised the director for not losing his calm during the filming of Chhaava. He said, “A lot happens on the sets. I said to myself, ‘Now, sir will lose his cool and say, what on earth is going on’. We shot for about 100 days. Not even once I saw him lose his temper.”

“He has been so committed to making the film right that anytime an issue arises, he will say, “We will try to find a solution together,” with that calmness, composure, and affection for the team. Everyone on the sets became passionately invested in displaying the grandeur of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj because he remained calm. I don’t know how he manages it, but he does. He is that kind of person,” the Masaan actor added.

Chhaava marks Vicky’s second collaboration with Laxman Utekar after the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke co-starring Sara Ali Khan.

Apart from this, Vicky will also be seen in director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s next period drama Love and War alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt.
