The second round of survey of the land previously owned by the Mangalam press on the banks of the Kallai river to determine the extent of encroachment, scheduled to be held on Wednesday (February 12), has been postponed due to technical issues. The first round of the survey, held on January 15, had confirmed encroachment on the river on the south side of the Mangalam press building.
The survey was conducted by the survey and revenue wings of the Kozhikode Corporation on a complaint by the Kallai River Protection Committee that new owners of the land, earlier vacated by Mangalam press, had filled a large part of the river with construction waste and had used it as a parking area for the auditorium constructed on the site.
Surveyors R. Jithesh, N.K. Fenunath, and Anith Kumar and Panniyankara village officer D. Kumar had inspected the site. They had served a notice on the alleged encroachers. The second round of the survey is being held to hear their side and for them to produce relevant documents, which will be taken into consideration.
