Ashish Chanchlani shared his first post amid India’s Got Latent controversy.
Youtuber Ashish Chanchlani has dropped his first post after maintaining a stoic silence on the India’s Got Latent controversy. On Monday, March 3, he dropped a video message for his fans, looking utterly distressed. Chanchlani said that he would fight the situation with all his might. He further requested fans to support him and his work when he bounces back after the storm calms down.
A rather emotional Ashish Chanchlani addressed his fans for the first time after YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia’s “sex with parents” remark on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent created a hullabaloo.
In the video, Chanchlani said, “Hello doston, kaise ho aap log, I know, aapke messages padhe maine, chal raha hai. Maine socha story pe aapse baat karlun lekin ab samajh nahi aa raha kya kahoon. Lad lenge situation se, dekhe hain aise tough times, isse bhi kuch naya seekh lenge (Hello friends, how are you all? I know, I’ve read your messages—everything is going on. I thought of talking to you through a story, but now I don’t know what to say. We’ll fight through this situation; we’ve seen tough times before, and we’ll learn something new from this too).”
He further added, “Main bas request karta hoon aap logon se ki aap meri family aur mujhe apne prayers mein rakhna. Jab bhi main wapis aau, kaam mera thoda idhar udhar ho gaya hain. Jab bhi wapis aaya, support karna. I’ll work hard. Bas dhyaan rakho sab log apna (I just have one request—please keep my family and me in your prayers. Whenever I return, my work might have been a bit all over the place. But when I come back, please support me. I’ll work hard. Just take care of yourselves, everyone).” Check out his video here:
Following the post, celebs, YouTubers and fans rallied in his support. Filmmaker Farah Khan wrote, “Love you Ashish”. Actor Rithvikk Dhanjani commented, “Upar wala saath hai dost.” His followers urged him to come back stronger.
Meanwhile, Ashish Chanchlani moved the Supreme Court in February 2025 seeking to quash or transfer to Mumbai a First Information Report (FIR) registered in Guwahati against him. He is one of the persons named in the case registered in Assam, in which Ranveer Allahbadia is the key accused for his controversial remarks on roast comedy show, India’s Got Latent. The Guwahati High Court granted interim bail to Chanchlani while hearing his anticipatory bail petition and asked him to be present before the investigating officer within 10 days.
Chanchlani’s counsels had argued that their client did not utter any controversial remarks on the show and the allegations in the FIR were made against the co-accused persons only.
What is the India’s Got Latent controversy?
Ranveer Allahbadia, who runs the popular YouTube channel BeerBiceps, appeared on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent in January 2025. There, he asked a young contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The question sparked widespread outrage, with many calling him out for the alleged vulgarity. Soon after, the video was removed from YouTube after the intervention of the I&B Ministry and the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Following the incident, a formal police complaint was lodged against Ranveer, Samay and other co-judges present on the episode, including Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh and Apoorva Makhija.
