Superboys of Malegaon, the Reema Kagti directorial drama film featuring Adarsh Gourav and Viineet Kumar Siingh has finally hit the theatres on February 28. Praise has been showering from all corners due to its storyline and cast performances. Now, actors and couple Kunal Kemmu and Soha Ali Khan have also showered appreciation for the film.
Taking to Instagram, Kunal dropped a poster of the film on his stories and wrote, “For the love of cinema. A true story of a small town with a big heart and passionate artist brought to life on the screen by an incredible team of technicians and actors.”

Backed by Zoya Akhtar and Farhan Akhtar, Superboys of Malegaon is based on the life of Nasir Shaikh and other amateur filmmakers in the city of Malegaon. It honours their legacy, acknowledging their filmmaking efforts which inspired generations of storytellers.
It features Adarsh Gourav as Nasir, Viineet Kumar Singh as Farogh, Shashank Arora as Shafique, Anuj Singh Duhan as Akram, Riddhi Kumar as Mallika, Saqib Ayub as Irfan, Gyanendra Tripathi as Nihal and Muskkaan Jaferi as Shabeena.
Despite positive reviews, the film has earned the unfortunate title of the lowest box office opener of the year. According to sacnilk.com, the film collected only Rs 45 Lakh on its opening day making it the lowest-opening film of 2025 so far.
Recently, while talking about the project Zoya said in a statement, “Nasir, the filmmaker, is a truly unique person. He founded the DIY filmmaking movement; back then, none of us could have imagined making a film with so minimal resources; we know how much work it takes, and he began with so little. Yet he brought his vision to life by working hard, making friends, and pouring his passion into the story. He put Malegaon on the map, which is extremely inspirational.”
The film faced a Bollywood clash with actor Sohum Shah’s thriller film Crazxy, which earned Rs 90 Lakh on the same day.
