Konkona Sen Sharma On Page 3 Completing 20 Years: ‘I Received So Much Love’

Konkona Sen Sharma also recalled her first experience of filming in Mumbai.

It has been 20 years since the release of Konkona Sen Sharma‘s Page 3. As the film completed the milestone on Tuesday, the actress posted a bunch of pictures from behind the stage along with a touching note. Expressing her gratitude to the team for giving her a character like Madhavi Sharma, Konkona also recalled the experience of shooting for her first film. FYI, Page 3, directed by Madhur Bhandarkar, was released in 2005.

Konkona Sen Sharma’s caption on the post read, “I can hardly believe PAGE 3 released 20 years ago! My first experience of filming in Bombay. This was 2005, the year of the flood and the year I moved to this city which has now been my home for over two decades! At the time I was young, full of abandon and free of expectations but today I look back with so much gratitude. Thank you Madhur Bhandarkar for Madhvi Sharma, a character I received so much love for. Thank you Tara Sharma Saluja and Sandhya Mridul for the lifelong friendships (sic).”

Page 3 features Konkona Sen Sharma in the role of a journalist. The film follows the life of a young journalist after she moves to Mumbai for a job. The story takes an interesting turn after she gets to work for a tabloid and begins to visit high society parties to report on the lives of celebrities. The film also starred Tara Sharma and Sandhya Mridul among others, in pivotal roles.

Madhur Bhandarkar, the director of the film, also posted a note on X saying that there is a sense of “nostalgia and gratitude” when he looks back at the film. He mentioned, “It warms my heart to see how it still resonates. When we set out to create Page3, I didn’t have a big budget or a star-studded cast, but I did have a passion for great content. I drew inspiration from the vibrant lives of Page 3 parties and journalists, and watching it blossom into a box office hit has been a dream come true. The critical acclaim and national awards were just the icing on the cake!”
