Khushi Kapoor revealed that she didn’t look like her mother Sridevi, or sister Janhvi Kapoor, and that her self-esteem took a hit when people made fun of her appearance as a child.

Khushi Kaporo said that her self-esteem took a hit when people made fun of her appearance as a child.

Boney Kapoor and Sridevi’s younger daughter Khushi Kapoor, who was recently seen in the film Loveyapa, has been quite vocal about undergoing cosmetic procedures. In a recent interview, the actress opened up about being judged for her appearance as a child, as a result of which, her self-esteem took a hit. She revealed that she did not look like her sister Janhvi Kapoor or their mother Sridevi, and that she took a keen interest in wanting to look a certain way.

While speaking with Indian Express, Khushi Kapoor said, “Since I was a very young girl, I was made fun of because of the way I looked. I didn’t look like my mom, I didn’t look like my sister. And of course, that takes a hit on your self-esteem as a very young child. So I took a keen interest in vanity and wanting to look a certain way. And I don’t think that’s a bad thing especially because I knew that these are things people are pointing out. And I felt a certain way about it.” She further clarified that she is not suggesting people need to undergo beauty procedures, however, for her, it’s a part of taking care of herself sometimes. Khushi also clarified that she has not undergone as many cosmetic procedures as people assume or speculate.

“In no way am I saying that this is something everyone should do or needs to do at all. Of course, I have not done the hundred things people have said that I have done. But I think that it’s a part of taking care of yourself sometimes. To do skincare or facials or this and that, or fillers, if you want to. And I don’t think it should be something someone should be scrutinized over. Because it’s a personal choice. You are not forcing someone to do something. You are not condoning it in any way.”

She further said that she believes people need to be honest so that they aren’t painting a false picture of their beauty. “And at the same time, I feel like whether you do something or don’t do something, people are going to have an issue with it,” she said. She further explained that she was criticized for her looks when she was younger, and people are still criticizing her now that she admitted that she got work done on her face.

Khushi Kapoor stars alongside Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan in the film ‘Loveyapa’ which released in theatres yesterday. The film marks their big-screen debut.
