Actress Keerthy Suresh has reacted to the death of a 15-year-old boy from Kerala, Mihir Ahammed, who died by suicide after alleged bullying and ragging by his classmates at a Kochi school.

Keerthy Suresh has demanded justice for Mihir, who died by suicide after alleged bullying and ragging.

A 15-year-old student from Kerala died by suicide on January 15 after alleged ragging and bullying by his classmates at a private school in Kochi. Mihir Ahammed, a student of the Global Public School in the Thiruvaniyoor area of Ernakulam, jumped from the 26th floor of his building after returning home from school. His mother alleged that her son was forced to ‘lick toilet seats’ and had his ‘head shoved into the toilet while it was flushed.’ Actress Keerthy Suresh has demanded justice for Mihir, describing the situation as heart-wrenching. She criticized the shameful act of ragging, and expressed that she can’t stop thinking about his grieving mother and other family members.

Keerthy Suresh took to her Instagram story to re-share an Instagram post which was originally uploaded by Mihir’s mother. Reacting to the incident, Keerthy wrote, “This is heart-wrenching! If ragging starts in school and a group of kids has tortured a boy to the extent that he took his own life, what a shame! Can’t stop thinking of this grieving mother and her family.”

The grieving mother has filed a formal complaint at the Hill Palace Police Station in Thripunithura. In her statement, she also revealed that her son was bullied for his skin colour. “I am a grieving mother fighting for justice for my son, who was a happy, active, and loving child. On that fateful day, Mihir returned home from school at 2:45 PM, and by 3:50 PM, my world came crashing down as he jumped from the 26th floor of our home in Choice Paradise, Thripunithara, Kochi, ending his life,” Ahammed’s mother Rajna PM said.

“Mihir was beaten, verbally abused, and forced to endure unimaginable humiliation even on his last day. He was forcibly taken to the washroom, made to lick a toilet seat, and had his head pushed into the toilet while it was flushed. These acts of cruelty broke him in ways we cannot fathom. He was bullied for his skin colour,” the teen’s mother claimed.

Samantha Ruth Prabhu, who was shattered by the news, also demanded justice for Mihir. “It’s 2025. Yet, we’ve lost another bright young life, snuffed out because a few individuals, filled with hate and venom pushed someone to the brink! Mihir’s tragic death is a stark reminder that bullying, harassment, and ragging are not just ‘harmless traditions’ or ‘rites of passage! They are violence-psychological, emotional, and sometimes even physical. We have stringent anti-ragging laws apparently, yet our students continue to suffer in silence, afraid to speak up, afraid of consequences, afraid that no one will listen. Where are we failing?” she wrote.
