Katy Perry, who quit American Ideal last year, has opened up about the dynamic equation she shared with co-judges, Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie. She further talked about her exit from the reality show. The Dark House singer is missing Luke and Lionel but also extended her full support to Carrie Underwood as her replacement. “I miss them so much,” the singer expressed her gratitude on Jimmy Kimmel Live. However, Perry admitted that the two “probably have a new text chain” with Carrie Underwood, who will be a judge on the next season of the ABC singing competition.

In a conversation with Jimmy Kimmel on Wednesday, January 29, the singer revealed she misses the dynamic she shared with Luke and Lionel on the show, “I do miss them, Hi, Luke! Hi Lionel!” Perry said, in response to Jimmy’s question about Bryan and Richie were “still reaching out to her.”
Perry Supports Underwood as New American Idol Judge
Perry admitted that the two probably have a new text chain with Carrie Underwood, who will be on the judging panel for the next season of the ABC singing competition. “I think it is perfect,” Perry on Take the Wheel singer as her replacement. The singer even advertised the singing reality show, though she was no longer a part of it. “It’s coming out in March, so you gotta watch!” Singer tells Kimmel’s audience.
In February 2024, the pop sensation revealed on Kimmel that she was leaving Idol after seven seasons to concentrate on her pursuits. The U.S. leg of Perry’s Lifetimes tour will begin in May and she has also released an album.
For the unversed, Perry received criticism from some fans for severely evaluating contestants In early 2023. Additionally, some sources informed media outlets that it was just part of her role as a coach. This news followed Perry’s announcement that she was leaving American Idol. Later, ABC announced that Underwood, the winner of American Idol season 4 would replace Perry. The singer performed at President Trump’s inauguration earlier this month.
