BTS’ Jin, aka Kim Seok-jin, was met with a grand welcome from fans following his discharge after 18 months of rigorous military service. The eldest BTS member not only celebrated his return but also marked the group’s 11th debut anniversary just days later. To reconnect with ARMY, he organised the Festa Hug Event, creating a heartfelt reunion with fans. However, the joyous occasion took an unexpected turn when some attendees overstepped boundaries, sparking discussions within the fandom.

Following the event, a complaint was filed at Seoul Songpa Police Station, addressing a potential violation of the Sexual Violence Punishment Act. In a new update, the South Korean authorities have summoned a Japanese woman for questioning after she allegedly kissed the BTS member without his consent during the free hug event. The Seoul Songpa Police Station, which is handling the case, confirmed on Friday, February 28, that they have requested the woman’s presence for questioning over the allegations of sexual harassment.

A police officer at the station, as reported by Chosun Ilbo, declined to disclose the identity of the woman, citing privacy concerns. However, they confirmed that the investigation was launched after receiving an online complaint. As the investigation is still going on, officials refrained from providing further details on the case.

Last year, the Festa Hug Event was attended by around 1,000 lucky ARMYs, who had the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to receive a warm embrace from Jin himself. However, amidst the overwhelming love and excitement, a particular moment left fans both shocked and infuriated. A video from the event showed the woman unexpectedly kissing Jin on his cheek.

In the clip, the BTS star even looked uncomfortable when a couple of female friends tried to kiss him. According to Yonhap news agency, later, in a blog post, the woman even described the moment, sharing, “My lips touched his neck. His skin was so soft.”

Media reports state that South Korean authorities were able to identify the woman with the assistance of Japanese police. However, the perpetrator, who is reportedly in her 50s, was refusing to appear for questioning.

Speaking of Jin’s work front, the 32-year-old singer released an extended version of his smashing hit song Super Tuna. Following this, in November 2024, Jin released his first-ever solo album titled Happy. Featuring six songs, the BTS member even collaborated with Red Velvet’s Wendy for the track Heart on the Window.
