Jaideep Ahlawat is back as Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary in Paatal Lok Season 2, which dropped last month on Amazon Prime Video. The first season turned him into a household name, and now, as he soaks in the success of the latest installment, he spoke to Hindustan Times about his journey and the buzz around his rising star power.
But it wasn’t just the show making headlines—Jaideep found himself at the center of some wild rumours! Just as Paatal Lok 2 was gearing up for release, social media was abuzz with claims that the actor had hiked his fee 50 times. One viral post even declared, “Jaideep Ahlawat charged Rs 40 lakh for Paatal Lok Season 1 but increased it to Rs 20 crore for Season 2.”
When asked about it, Jaideep couldn’t help but laugh, saying, “Arre yaar itna tha toh mujhe bata toh dete. Main kuch kar leta iss paise ka. Hai kahan ye paisa, gaya kahan? (If it was that much, they should have at least told me. I would have done something with the money. Where is this money? Where did it go?)”
The actor had repised his role as Inspector Hathiram Chaudhary in the sequel of the 2020 series produced by Sudip Sharma and directed by Avinash Arun Dhaware. It also stars Ishwak Singh, Gul Panag, Tillotama Shome, Jahnu Barua, Nagesh Kukunoor, among others. Jaideep Ahlawat was previously seen in the 2024 film ‘Maharaj’ co-starring Junaid Khan, Shalini Pandey and Sharvari.
Jaideep also has an exciting lineup of films of films ahead. He shared that he has been working on multiple projects such as Jewel Thief with Saif Ali Khan, a film with Vipul Amrutlal Shah, Hisaab with Shefali Shah and a film with Neeraj Yadav, the writer of An Action Hero, who is directing his debut film. The actor will also be seen as the antagonist in Family Man 3 alongside Manoj Bajpayee.
