Indian Army Launches Rescue Operation in Umrangso, Assam

Guwahati, January 08: The Indian Army and Assam Rifles have initiated a rescue operation in Umrangso, located in the Dima Hasao District of Assam. The operation aims to rescue miners trapped in a mine. The rescue task force, comprising divers and engineers, has already attempted diving into the mine twice.

Currently, Army engineers are assisting the civil administration by removing water from the mine and providing adequate lighting to ensure the site is well-illuminated for night operations. The joint rescue efforts will continue through the night, with search operations set to resume the following morning.
