
Guwahati, Feb 6 :The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) BioNEST, in collaboration with the BRICS Youth Council, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (Government of India), and the Global Counter-Terrorism Council, is set to host a Pre-Consultation Entrepreneurship Event on 7th February 2025. The event aims to empower young entrepreneurs and strengthen the startup ecosystem in Northeast India.
Kausar Jamil Hilaly, IAS, Secretary of the Department of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, will be the Chief Guest at the event. Other distinguished attendees include Adil Khan, Secretary of the Transport Department, Government of Assam; Deba K. Mishra, Deputy Commissioner Kamrup; Prof. Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati; and Prof. Sukumar Nandi, Dean of Administration at IIT Guwahati.
Themed “Empowering Northeast India – Youth Innovations for Sustainable Growth and National Connectivity,” the event will feature an exhibition of over 80 startups showcasing innovative ideas and products. The exhibition offers a unique opportunity for young entrepreneurs to connect with investors, mentors, and industry experts.
Key highlights include a keynote address by Sagar Daryani, CEO & Co-Founder of Wow! Momo, who will share his journey in the startup world. Maj Gen (Retd) Rajesh K. Jha, AVSM, Director (Personnel) at NEEPCO, will conduct a masterclass on life skills and self-confidence for entrepreneurial success.
This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s vision for a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India), emphasizing the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in national growth.
Swapnil Sinha, CEO of IIT Guwahati-BioNEST, highlighted that the event will provide the youth of Northeast India with valuable insights and connections to foster entrepreneurial growth in the region.
The Assam State Transport Corporation has arranged special bus services with 28 routes to ensure easy access for participants traveling to and from IIT Guwahati on the event day.
The BRICS bloc, comprising Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, has long advocated for entrepreneurship as a key driver of economic development, and this event serves as a vital platform for connecting young innovators to drive future growth.
