The Hun-Thadou Cultural Festival 2025 will take place on April 4 in Guwahati, Assam, according to a joint press release by Thadou Community International (TCI), Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), and the Thadou Students’ Association (TSA-GHQ).
The festival will showcase the rich cultural heritage of the Thadou community, symbolizing renewal, growth, and the sprouting of newly sown seeds.
“Hun, officially recognized as a restricted holiday in Manipur, has been celebrated for generations. Hosting this year’s festival in Guwahati aims to include Thadou individuals residing outside Manipur and provide an inclusive and safe environment for the celebration,” stated the joint press release.
The event also seeks to reaffirm the Thadou Tribe’s unique identity and heritage, particularly in Assam, where the Thadou are recognized as an Indigenous Tribe. The organizers emphasized that the festival would help dispel misconceptions linking the community solely with the Kuki identity, while highlighting its distinct cultural legacy.
An Organizing Committee has been established to ensure the success of the festival, with sub-committees handling guest coordination, finance, publications, cultural programs, hospitality, logistics, and community mobilization. The teams are committed to making the event a memorable celebration.
