Renowned actor Gene Hackman and his wife, classical pianist Betsy Arakawa, were discovered dead in their home in the Santa Fe Summit community, northeast of Santa Fe, on Wednesday afternoon. Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza confirmed the couple’s death shortly after midnight on Thursday, stating that their dog was also found dead.
In an interview on Wednesday evening, Mendoza reported that there were no immediate signs of foul play. However, he did not provide details on the cause of death or when exactly the couple had died. Hackman, a celebrated two-time Oscar winner and author, was honoured for his outstanding contributions to the entertainment industry with the Cecil B. de Mille Award at the 60th Annual Golden Globe Awards on January 19, 2003.
