Actress Shilpa Shirodkar won hearts during her 102-day journey on Bigg Boss 18. As the reality show wrapped up, fans couldn’t help but notice that despite her strong performance, her famous family members, namely, her sister Namrata Shirodkar and brother-in-law, Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu, did not publicly support her on social media. Naturally, curiosity sparked and questions followed as to why Mahesh, with his massive fan following, didn’t give her a public nod of support.
In a candid conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Shilpa set the record straight. “Relationships shouldn’t be gauged by the posts shared on social media,” she said, emphasising that love and family bonds are not dependent on public displays. She explained that in their family, expressing affection and standing by each other doesn’t necessarily mean making grand social media gestures.

“I went into the house for who I am, and not as Namrata’s sister, or Mahesh’s sister-in-law. Of course, he is a superstar and popular, but that doesn’t mean he has to be part of my career, right?” Shilpa questioned.
She was quick to dismiss any misconceptions about Mahesh Babu’s reserved nature being mistaken for arrogance. “Mahesh and Namrata are very reserved people and the world is quick to label them arrogant. Mahesh is reserved, but a very nice person. He is very, very cool. Of course, he is very reserved, but he is always there. If you need anything, he will be there for you,” she added.
Setting the record straight on any speculation of a rift with Namrata over her Bigg Boss journey, Shilpa Shirodkar clarified that there was no tension between them. “I actually accepted Bigg Boss when she was with me in Hyderabad. She coordinated a lot of things. Just like how I am close with Sitara and can say anything that Namrata can’t, she became that aunt to my daughter Anushka when I was inside the house,” the actress explained.
Shilpa Shirodkar further added that her family couldn’t be prouder of her for lasting over three months in the house. “My family is extremely proud of me, especially for staying that long in the house and they are the happiest,” she revealed.
Shilpa Shirodkar was evicted from Bigg Boss 18 days before the finale, leaving fans and housemates emotional. The top six contestants were Karan Veer Mehra, Vivian Dsena, Chum Darang, Eisha Singh, Avinash Mishra and Rajat Dalal.
