Harmeet Singh, IPS (Assam-Meghalaya cadre, 1992 batch), has been appointed as the new Director General of Police (DGP) of Assam, following the transfer of Gyanendra Pratap Singh to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). Harmeet Singh, who previously served as the Director General of Civil Defence and Commandant General of Home Guards in Assam, will now lead the state’s police administration.
In addition to his new role, Singh has held several significant positions, including Special DGP (Headquarters), Special DGP-cum-Director of Fire & Emergency Services, and Special DGP (Border). His appointment is aimed at ensuring a seamless transition and maintaining law enforcement efficiency in the state.
