
The state government is committed to developing industries in Vijayapura district, Minister for heavy and medium industries, M.B. Patil said in Vijayapura on Sunday (January 26, 2025).
“It is already known as an agriculture and horticulture district. We will work towards making it an industrial district,” he said. He was speaking during the Republic Day celebrations.
He said plans were afoot to develop the district into an industrial hub with six sectors, namely energy sector equipment, machinery and equipment, non-metallic mineral products, agriculture and agro-based products, nutraceuticals, medicinal and botanical products, special alloys and metal products.
“Steps will be taken to establish a manufacturing cluster in Mulwad village under KIADB,” the Minister said.
“Focus will be laid on harvesting wind and solar power in Vijayapura district. In this regard, Sugyan Wind Power Unit has decided to start a 5,000 MW capacity unit in our district, for which 100 acres of land will be provided. Similarly, Renaissance Company will set up a solar panel components manufacturing unit in Vijayapura district with an investment of Rs. 6,000 crore. This will reach the level of 20,000 MW in the coming days, which will create a maximum of 3,000 jobs,’‘ he said.
“The historic Mamadapura Lake will be developed into an attractive destination at a cost of ₹1 crore under the CSR initiative. In addition, the biological park here has been named after Pujya Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji. The work of developing the Bhutanal Lake, Begum Talab, Golagumbaj, Ibrahim Roja, Kumatagi Lake, Summer Palace and Karada Dodda Man-Made Forest Area in and around Vijayapura Mahanagara Palike as beautiful tourist destinations is in progress with the help of the Department of Large and Medium Industries and CSR grants,’‘ he said.
Since April 2023, the state has received investments worth ₹1.15 lakh crore from prestigious companies like Foxconn, Jindal, Toyota, Air India and others. This investment is in the fields of iPhone parts manufacturing, wind power, car manufacturing and aircraft repair and maintenance etc.
“It is planned to spend ₹20 crore out of the ₹25 crore allocated under the Amrutha-2.0 scheme jointly managed by the Central and State Governments to undertake the restoration and beautification works of Begum Talab and Bhutanala lakes and to undertake the development work of 10 parks in Vijayapura city with an amount of ₹5 crore,’‘ he added.
“Babaleshwar and Tikota taluks have been selected as model taluks and in collaboration with CSR units, school building renovation, construction and smart class installation are being done and it is planned to expand this to some places across the district in the coming days,” the Minister said.
A 10-bed eye surgery unit, liquid medical oxygen unit, IPHL laboratory, laundry and morgue have been started in the premises of the district hospital, and it is planned to take up the work of a 50-bed mother and child hospital building and civic amenities,’‘ he further said.
“Work on the taluk stadium work has started on 10 acres in Bidarkundi village near Muddebihal at the cost of ₹2 crore. The cycling velodrome work being constructed at a cost of ₹735 lacs on an 8-acre 10-guntha site in Bhutanala village is 96% complete. Similarly, a detailed planning report has been prepared and submitted for approval at an estimated cost of ₹223 lacs to provide an amphitheater, landscaping, food court and other facilities in Anand Mahal and the surrounding area,’‘ he added.
