Actor David Schwimmer strongly spoke out against rapper Kanye West’s controversial remarks on social media. The ‘Friends’ star blasted West, highlighting the latter’s controversial and antisemitic tweets. Schwimmer urged X owner Elon Musk to have him banned from the micro-blogging platform. The rapper has been hitting the headlines for his disturbing social media posts and remarks post his wife Bianca Censori’s controversial Grammy red carpet appearance. In his recent post, West declared that he is a Nazi, and praised Adolf Hitler.
David Schwimmer took to his Instagram and called Kanye West a ‘deranged bigot’, pleading with Elon Musk to ‘stop giving him a megaphone’. “We can’t stop a deranged bigot from spewing hate-filled, ignorant bile… but we CAN stop giving him a megaphone, Mr. Musk,” Schwimmer wrote. He further pointed out Kanye West’s huge number of followers on X, and how his ‘sick hate speech’ can have real life consequences, and can result in ‘real-life violence against Jews’. “Kanye West has 32.7 million followers on your platform, X. That’s twice as many people than the number of Jews in existence. His sick hate speech results in REAL LIFE violence against Jews,” he continued.
David further added, “I don’t know what’s worse, the fact that he identifies as a Nazi (which implies he wants to exterminate ALL marginalized communities including his own) or the fact that there is not sufficient OUTRAGE to remove and ban him from all social media at this point. Silence is complicity.”
Kanye West was reportedly banned for almost eight months between 2022 and 2023 when he posted a swastika, and uploaded a series of posts with similar disturbing content.
Over the weekend, Kanye West went on a shocking tirade, expressing his love for Adolf Hitler and even accusing billionaire Elon Musk of stealing his so-called “Nazi swag.”
West’s outburst began with a disturbing post on X (formerly Twitter), where he declared: “IM A NAZI.” He followed it up with an even more shocking statement: “I LOVE HITLER NOW WHAT B***.”** Another alarming remark in his series of posts read: “Hitler was sooooo fresh.” His posts sparked massive outrage on social media. Many were stunned that West, who had previously apologised for his past antisemitic remarks, was once again engaging in hate speech.
