
Sri Sathya Sai district police arrested four people from Karnataka on Tuesday for allegedly circulating counterfeit currency at Kummaravandla Palli Market Yard of Kadiri mandal.
The accused deceived sheep traders by using fake ₹500 notes with a face value of ₹30,000. Upon realizing the fraud, the victims complained to the Kadiri Rural Police Station on January 7, according to the police.
SP V. Ratna, IPS, and Kadiri DSP led a special investigation team which used CCTV footage and technical evidence to track the suspects and arrest them. The team recovered 60 fake ₹500 notes, ₹20,500 worth of genuine notes, and two two-wheelers used in the crime.
The arrested individuals, who belong to Karnataka, were identified as Islavat Veero Nayak, 25, from Gortipalli; Dungawati Ravi Nayak, 25, from Gaurapalli; M.V. Anand Nayak, 25, from Parvatipura Tanda; and Adinarayana Nayak, 48, from Parvatipura Tanda. They were presented in court and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation is under way.
SP Ratna commended the Kadiri Rural Police team for their efforts and urged the public to stay vigilant of counterfeit currency.
