EXO-Ls have been riding a rollercoaster of emotions lately as the beloved group is dealing with solo projects and military enlistments. While fans treasure the members’ endeavours, the anticipation for a full-group comeback has been brewing for quite some time now. EXO’s last group release dates reportedly back to July 2023, shortly after Kai’s enlistment. Before that, the group’s eight Korean members hadn’t performed together since their 2018 hit, Tempo. That track also marked the last time all nine members, including Lay, contributed to a song, specifically, the Chinese version.
This gap has left fans eagerly counting down the days until the group reunites as one. Recently, D.O., known for his frankness, offered an update that stirred deep emotions among fans. During an interview for his upcoming film Secret: Untold Melody, the multi-talented idol-actor addressed the question of EXO’s future as a full group. While his response wasn’t what everyone hoped to hear, it was a refreshing dose of honesty.
Kyungsoo regarding EXO’s comeback 😭🤍When asked if EXO could reunite as a full group, Doh Kyungsoo responded, “Yes,” adding, “We’re going to start preparing now, so no need to worry, we’ll start preparing now.”
When asked if it could happen this year, he replied, “Not this… pic.twitter.com/OgjeElmDP4

“We will start preparing and you’ll be able to see us, so there’s no need to worry. Not this year right away, but you’ll be able to meet us at the earliest possible time. We will start preparing this year after taking into account everyone’s individual schedules,” shared D.O., reports Koreaboo.
His thoughtful remarks gave fans a clearer understanding of what to expect. With Sehun, the youngest member, about to complete his military service in September 2025, many supporters had hoped group activities might follow soon after. Now, D.O.’s update suggests that a reunion will take careful planning, likely pushing the highly anticipated comeback to 2026.
Despite the longer wait, fans were quick to express their gratitude for D.O.’s sincerity. “Logically, it’s true that it’s not gonna be possible for them to rush into group activities this year. I’d rather have them prepare as long as they need than rush everything thank you for speaking up and for being direct and honest Kyungsoo,” one fan wrote on X.

Another supporter shared their optimism saying, “Kyungsoo has always been sincere, so if he’s saying that we will get an EXO comeback, then it will happen. I already knew a 2025 comeback was unlikely, so let’s happily wait for the 2026 CB.”

“The king just spoke! One more year of waiting—I don’t mind. We’re used to waiting anyway. As long as you guys come back as a full group, I’ll be there waiting for that day,” read another comment.
D.O.’s straightforward update might not have been the news everyone was hoping for, but it has strengthened the bond between EXO and their fans. The countdown to their reunion is officially on and as EXO-Ls know all too well, good things are always worth the wait.
