Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday (February 19, 2025) asked volunteers to ensure that their work matched the grandeur of the organisation’s newly constructed office in New Delhi.
Built at a cost of around ₹150 crore, the new Sangh office at Keshav Kunj has 3.75 acres of built-up area. Its three 13-storey towers house around 300 rooms and offices, besides auditoriums, a library, hospital, and Hanuman temple.
Sources in the Sangh Parivar told The Hindu that funds were collected through donations from over 75,000 individuals and organisations that support the Sangh ideology.
The construction work that began in 2016 took over eight years to finish, with the pandemic contributing to the delay, an RSS official said. Sangh officials worked from Udasin Bhawan in Jhandewalan during these eight years.
Mr. Bhagwat said the Sangh’s work was gaining momentum across the country and expanding by the day.
“Today, we celebrate our homecoming to this building. Our work should also be as grand as this building. We believe that this work will reach all corners of the world and take Bharat to the position of Vishwaguru,” he added.
Mr. Bhagwat emphasised that while the conditions of the Sangh has changed, in comparison to the earlier times of hardship, its direction should not change.
“Prosperity is a necessity — we must have what we need, but it should be attained with limits. This new building is undoubtedly grand. However, with this grandeur comes responsibility, and we must work accordingly to uphold its stature,” he added.
The RSS’s Keshav Kunj office, which barely had a few rooms, came into existence in 1939. The office was renovated thrice in the past 80 years.
