Jahnu Barua, 72, is an iconic personality in Indian Cinema and is regarded as a pioneer in Assamese filmmaking. He has directed several significant films, earning global applause. Born in Sivasagar, Assam, Barua’s films are known for their deep humanistic approach, often addressing social issues. His unique take on exploring the emotional journeys of his characters often garners love from cinephiles.
Some of his exemplary works include Halodhia Choraye Baodhan Khai, Firingoti, Xagoroloi Bohu Door, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahi Mara, Konikar Ramdhenu and Ajeyo.
