Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, Padmaavat, is all set to grace the silver screen once again. This cinematic masterpiece, known for its opulent sets, breathtaking visuals and powerful performances, is gearing up for a grand re-release on February 6. The film is back in theatres after 7 years, and movie buffs can’t wait to witness the grandeur of the period drama and experience the nostalgia of the cinematic gem. The re-release offers a chance for fans to revisit the iconic characters of Rani Padmavati, Alauddin Khilji and Maharawal Ratan Singh, brought to life by Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor, respectively.

On January 25, the actor dropped a post on his official Instagram handle expressing his excitement about the re-release of the magnum opus. Sharing the poster of the film featuring his iconic character, Alauddin Khilji, he wrote, “Experience the tyranny of Alauddin Khilji on the big screen! ‘Padmaavat’ is returning to theatres! Don’t miss the re-release… in cinemas on the 6th of February! #PadmaavatOn6thFeb.”

Set in medieval Rajasthan, the epic historical drama is based on the poem Padmavat by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. It tells the saga of Rani Padmavati’s legendary beauty, her unyielding courage, and her defiance against the ruthless Sultan Alauddin Khilji. Deepika Padukone portrayed Rani Padmavati, Ranveer Singh turned as the villainous Khilji, and Shahid Kapoor played the role of Raja Ratan Singh in the film.

The film was released in theatres on January 25, 2018, amid much brouhaha as the Shri Rajput Karni Sena protested over the alleged distortion of facts in the film. Upon its release, the period drama garnered immense praise from both audiences and critics for its grandeur, craftsmanship and powerful storytelling. It is worth noting that the film remains not only one of the most visually stunning films but also a commercially successful one in the history of Indian cinema.

Talking about Ranveer Singh’s professional commitments, the Bollywood heartthrob has multiple films lined up in his kitty. He will be seen in Don 3: The Final Chapter, directed by Farhan Akhtar. The actor will also star in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming film Baiju Bawra. Co-starring Alia Bhatt and Kiara Advani, the drama film revolves around two singers.

Next, he is roped in for Basil Joseph’s action drama film Shaktimaan. The film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi and Pankaj Tripathi in lead roles.
