Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa shared his first video after securing bail in the Renukaswamy murder case, thanking fans for their support. He also requested them not to gather outside his house on his birthday, February 16.
The 47-year-old actor was arrested on June 11, 2024, in connection with the alleged murder of 33-year-old auto driver Renukaswamy on June 8. Reports suggest the incident was linked to obscene messages Renukaswamy had sent to Darshan’s friend, actor Pavithra Gowda. On December 13, 2024, the high court granted bail to Darshan, Pavithra, and several other accused, while some had been released earlier.

In a video that he shared on X, he said, “I would like to thank all my beloved celebrities (fans) for their love and support. Should I say Namaskara or thanks? No matter what I say, it won’t be enough. You have shown so much affection towards me, I don’t know how to return it.”
In the video, Darshan said he wanted to meet his fans on his birthday but couldn’t due to health issues. He said, “But this time, the only problem is my health issue, nothing else. I cannot stand for long and thank everyone… whenever I take an injection, I feel fine for 15-20 days, but once its effect reduces, the pain returns. I will have to undergo an operation.”
Darshan thanked the producers who waited for him. “I thank all my producers who waited for me. I should not do injustice to them, as they too would have planned other projects. So I’m trying to push myself,” he said.
In June 2024, Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, his partner Pavithra Gowda and 11 others were arrested in a murder case of Renukaswamy (33), known to be an ardent fan of Darshan. Renukaswamy was found murdered, and his body was dumped in a drain in Kamakshipalya in Bengaluru on June 8. All the accused went through criminal proceedings and a period of imprisonment. Meanwhile, Darshan was granted bail on December 13, 2024.
