The Cyberabad cyber crime police have warned citizens against fake hospital emergency scams. This comes at a time when impersonation frauds have been on a rise in the State.

Police said in such cases, fraudsters target ‘unsuspecting’ families by impersonating hospital staff. They claim that a family member is having a medical emergency and play on the emotional vulnerability of people.

“This is a simple modus operandi. Under the guise of providing urgent medical care, fraudsters convince family members to immediately transfer funds. The act is quick to prevent them from verifying any details,” an official from the Hyderabad cyber crime police explained.

The advisory comes in the backdrop of such cases being reported in other parts of the country. Cyber crime police in Hyderabad confirmed that no such case was reported in the city in the past few months.
