New Arunachal armed group’s members told to come overground

Curbs will shortly be imposed on movement of heavy vehicles in the Aroor-Thuravur NH 66 corridor which has been barricaded for building an elevated highway, it was decided at a meeting on Saturday chaired by PWD Secretary K. Biju.

These vehicles will instead be diverted through alternative roads owned by the PWD and local bodies, for whose development ₹8 crore has been approved. Buses from Ernakulam will be diverted from Arookutty, while those from Alappuzha will be diverted from TD High School Junction in Thuravur. Heavy vehicles from Thrissur must use MC Road to reach southern districts. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will bear the expense for creating awareness in this regard and also for police personnel and traffic wardens.

The meeting was attended by Ernakulam and Alappuzha District Collectors.
