
NTR District Collector G. Lakshmisha has instructed the officials concerned to find out if there are any traces of metals such as cadmium, uranium in the air in A. Konduru mandal.
At a coordination meeting at the Collectorate here on Saturday, Mr. Lakshmisha directed the pollution control officials to conduct tests within 20 days to rule out the possibility of presence of metals in air. Similarly, he asked the officials concerned to conduct soil tests too.
Awareness programmes were being held in the kidney disease-affected thandas, with 3,600 houses, in the mandal at present, the Collector said, adding that soon the programmes would be taken up outside of these thandas too. The campaigns focus on the ill-effects of ID liquor, indiscriminate use of pain killers, and antibiotics.
In the kidney disease-affected 15 thandas of the mandal, dialysis and nephrologist services should be provided without interruption, the Collector said, while discussing with officials of different departments regarding measures to prevent and control the number of kidney ailment cases in the mandal.
