Chhaava Box Office Collection Day 5: Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna’s historical drama Chhaava continues its box office run, but the film has seen a slight dip in its earnings. Released last week, the film opened to positive reviews from both critics and audiences, setting a strong foundation for its theatrical run. However, its momentum has slowed down after a promising weekend.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, Chhaava earned Rs 24.50 crore on its fifth day, bringing its total collection to Rs 165 crore. While the film has maintained a double-digit hold, its earnings have declined compared to previous days. On day four, Chhaava collected Rs 24 crore, marking a 50.52% drop from its day three earnings of Rs 48.5 crore. The film opened at Rs 31 crore and saw an upward trend with Rs 37 crore on day two.
The film recorded an overall 26.12% Hindi occupancy on Tuesday. Morning shows saw an 18.19% footfall, followed by 26.42% in the afternoon and 33.76% in the evening.
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films, Chhaava is a historical action film based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji, portrayed by Vicky Kaushal. Rashmika Mandanna plays Maharani Yesubai, while Akshaye Khanna essays the role of Aurangzeb. The film also stars Ashutosh Rana as Sarsenapati Hambirao Mohite and Divya Dutta as Soyarabai. It is adapted from the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. The film’s music is composed by A. R. Rahman, with lyrics by Irshad Kamil.
A review from Hindustan Times noted that while Chhaava had the potential to be a powerful tribute to Sambhaji’s bravery, it was hindered by “bad editing and excessive superherofication” of the Maratha ruler. The review praised the film for its humanizing moments, where Sambhaji’s character truly connected with the audience.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to declare Chhaava tax-free in the state, citing its historical and cultural significance.
