Captain America: Brave New World made a strong debut at the box office, as it earned $88 million during its opening weekend. The movie quickly surpassed the $100 million mark within just three days of its release and globally, the film has already made $198 million. Looking at the numbers, it proves that fans were eager for a new Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) movie, especially to watch Captain America and Red Hulk’s face off. While the opening weekend numbers are impressive, the movie has a long way to go. To break even, the movie needs to reach $425 million worldwide, meaning it still has to earn $227 million more to be profitable for Disney and Marvel Studios. The film has minted Rs 15.13 crore in six days at the Indian box office, reported Sacnilk.

According to Deadline, the Anthony Mackie starrer is the 35th consecutive MCU film to reach the top spot at the domestic box office. On the other hand, the movie had the fourth biggest opening in the history of Marvel, as Black Panther earned the maximum, $242 million, followed by Deadpool with $152 million and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, made $120 million in its opening weekend.

As per Box Office Mojo, Captain America 4 earned $5 million in South Korea, which is the highest amount the movie earned in any Asian country. In India, the movie managed to earn only $1 million. This lower collection is due to its clash with the Bollywood film Chhava, starring Vicky Kaushal. The historical drama, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, son of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, had more screens, which affected the MCU movie’s earnings in the country.

Captain America: The First Avenger made $370 million worldwide, but it had a smaller budget, and Marvel Cinematic Universe was still in its early days. However, Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Captain America: Civil War performed much better, as they earned $714 million and $1.15 billion, respectively. The two movies, starring Chris Evans, were released when the MCU was at its peak. Even Eternals, called one of Marvel’s biggest flops, made $402 million, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania collected $476 million worldwide, despite releasing when theatres were just recovering from the COVID-19 shutdown.

Directed by Julius Onah, Captain America: Brave New World stars Anthony Mackie, Harrison Ford, Seth Rollins, Shira Haas and Rosa Salazar.
