BLACKPINK’s Rose is inching towards making history with her hit song APT, featuring Bruno Mars. Since its release in October, the song, inspired by a popular Korean drinking game, has kept fans entertained. Now, the South Korean singer is on track to surpass Mariah Carey’s legendary All I Want for Christmas Is You. After spending 14 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Global Exclusive US chart, APT has reached the same record as Carey’s classic. If it stays for one more week, Rose will take the crown. That’s not all, APT recently returned to the top spot on the Billboard Global 200, for 12th non consecutive week.
According to Billboard, the song topped the Global Exclusive US chart with 108 million streams and 10,000 sales outside the US between January 24 and 30. Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ Die With a Smile moved up from 3rd to Number 2 position, after holding the 1st spot for eight weeks since September. Bad Bunny also has two songs in the top five. His track DtMF has dropped to third place from its previous second spot, while BAILE INoLVIDABLE stayed steady at fourth. Lola Young’s song Messy entered the top 10 for the first time, jumping from eighth to fifth place with 8% increase in streams and a 35% rise in sales.

In a past interview with Paper Magazine, Rose explained that she chose to feature Bruno Mars in APT after seeing him perform live in 2023. She was amazed by his performance and said it felt like she knew all the words to his songs without realising it.
Following the show, the singer decided to send his team three options, and “was the only one that strongly believed he would do APT. Everyone was like, ‘No, he’s not going to do it, don’t send it.’ And I was like, ‘No, what the hell.’ It’s that song or nothing. Well, he got the memo. I knew it was a dancey, fun song so I knew people would like it. I know that people are starting to learn about it more and more. Korean culture is, I would say, one of the most fun cultures out there. To be able to show that to the world, it’s like a personal excitement for me.”
Meanwhile, Rose has plans to release more songs in the future and she’s set to come together with Jennie, Jisoo and Lisa for BLACKPINK’s comeback show.
