The Black Eyed Peas have announced that their upcoming Las Vegas residency at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, which was set to begin in February, has been cancelled. The group shared the disappointing news, claiming that the shows will not be going ahead due to “current circumstances.” While they didn’t provide any specific reason, they assured fans that full refunds would be given and encouraged them to stay tuned for updates on future performances. The residency, The Black Eyed Peas: 3008, was supposed to feature Will I Am, Apl.de.Ap, Taboo and J Rey Soul, with multiple shows scheduled throughout February, March and May.

Fans were looking forward to seeing the group perform live, but now must wait for more details on when they would return. Taking to their Instagram stories, the group wrote, “To our dearest Peabodies, It is with a heavy heart that, in light of current circumstances, our Las Vegas shows will not be moving forward as planned. Ticket providers will issue full refunds automatically. Stay tuned for updates on future performances by following us-we can’t wait to see you again.”

Black Eyed Peas had planned to introduce a new band member, an artificial intelligence named Vida, during the residency, The Black Eyed Peas: 3008. Will I Am explained in a 2024 interview that the idea of using AI in their music was something they had in mind back in 2009. He mentioned that their album The END featured an avatar character in the music video and on the album cover, hinting at the concept of AI long before they thought about bringing it to life on stage.

Speaking with USA Today, the singer said, “When I was running around the projects as a kid in LA and Apple was running around in the Philippines, to think that we would have the first AI member of a globally recognized urban pop-hip-hop group … man.”

According to Deadline, The Black Eyed Peas’ Las Vegas residency, originally announced in September 2024, was set to take place in five segments, February 15-16, 19, 21-22, March 21-22, 26, 28-29 and May 24-25, 28-30. However, these performances have now been cancelled due to some unknown “circumstances” and fans are hoping they will make future show announcements soon.
